Is There A Mother God in the Bible?

Is There A Mother God in the Bible?

One of the main differences between the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) and other churches is that the members of the WMSCOG believe God is two and other churches believe God is one. The WMSCOG believe in Father God and Mother God in the Bible while other Christians share the belief in Father God. Is there a Mother God in the Bible? The Bible has verses showing God the Father exists:

2 Corinthians 6:18 – And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Matthew 6:9 – This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,”

God is our Father who dwells in Heaven. The verses above clearly show God the Father exists. It would be natural for a Mother God to exist since a Father God exists. Nature also shows through animals, insects and plants that for a father to exist, a mother must exist also. Still, the existence of  a Mother God is not familiar to most Christians.

Where is there a Mother God in the Bible?

Now to answer the burning question… “Is there a Mother God in the Bible?” Do we actually see the letters: “M-O-T-H-E-R” in the Bible? The surprising answer is yes!

Galatians 4:26 – But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

The letters “M-O-T-H-E-R” are there in the Bible. Just like Christians have a Father in heaven (Matthew 6:9), Christians also have a mother in heaven.

Galatians 4:31 – Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

“We” here means Christians, believers in Jesus Christ. According to the Bible, Christians are the children of God. But here, Apostle Paul says we are the children of the free woman in heaven. He says the Heavenly Jerusalem is our Mother. Then logically, the Jerusalem in heaven is God, but not Father God, God the Mother.

  • Christians —> Children of God
  • Christians —> Children of the free woman, our mother
  • God —> The free woman, our mother

But the Bible says God is One

How can God be two, Father and Mother, when the Bible says God is one?

1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

The Bible says there is one God and no one can deny this verse. At the same time, no one can deny the above verses in Galatians that says we have a mother in heaven. What this means is that somehow, these two verses are both true. This is because 1 Timothy 2:5 refers to God the Father. Indeed there is only one God the Father in heaven.

The Bible Says God has Two Images

Most Christians are familiar with the male image of God, God the Father. They believe that God the Father alone created everything. Then, when God was creating mankind, what should God say? Shouldn’t God say, “I will make man in my image?” Shouldn’t God speak in singular? However, God speaks in plural.

Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

God says plural words multiple times: “us” and “our.” Who is the “us” and “our” that God is talking about? No one can say God made a typo, so what does this mean? How many images does God have?

Genesis 1:27 – So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

If you read this verse closely, God actually repeats the same thing three times.

  • His own image —> created mankind
  • Image of God —> created them
  • Male and Female —> created them

The Image of God is male and female. We call the male image of God, “Our Father.” We should call the female image of God, “Our Mother.”

How is God One and Two at the Same Time?

Sometimes the Bible refers to two people as being one. It is the case with the God the Father and God the Mother, and with Adam and Eve. As most Christians know, Eve ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil first, then Adam ate.

Genesis 3:6 – When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

She (Eve) ate first, then he (Adam) ate second. Simple, right?

Rom 5:12-15 – Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man… For if the many died by the trespass of the one man

Why does the Bible say that sin entered the world through one man? In Romans, Apostle Paul doesn’t even mention Eve. The Bible should say, “sin entered the world through one woman” and “many died by the trespass of one woman.” Why is Eve not mentioned? Is it that she doesn’t exist? No. Though they are two separate persons, the Bible regards them as one. It is the same with God. Though God the Father and God the Mother exist, They are one God.

Ahnsahnghong Testified the Existence of God the Mother

Is there a Mother God in the Bible? Yes. It is not easy to understand since God is one and God is two at the same time. If you study at the WMSCOG, you will see that Ahnsahnghong showed these verses above and more to testify that God the Mother exists. In fact, God the Mother is testified throughout the entire bible, from the very beginning to the very end.
