In churches I attended before, they have always taught me that the bride in the Bible is the church. However, when I went to a Bible study at the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG), I saw that the bride can have more than one meaning depending on what the bride does. In Revelation, there is the bride of Christ who gives the water of life.
Rev 22:17 – The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
The Holy Spirit is Second Coming Christ and He is with His bride. Who is this bride according to the bible? Is it the saints? Again, I was asked, “What is this bride doing?” Here, this bride is giving the water of life. This was a very important detail. Then, I saw who gives the water of life in each age through the Bible.
Who Gives the water of Life in the Age of the Father?
Jeremiah 2:13 – My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
Living water is the same as the water of life in the Bible. In Jeremiah, God shows where living water comes from. As water comes from a spring, living water comes from God. In the age of the Father, God is the source of the water of life. God is the only one who can give it.
Who Gives the water of Life in the Age of the Son?
When reading the Book of John, there was a time where Jesus asked a Samaitan woman for some water.
John 4:7-10 – When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” …If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
In the age of the Son, Jesus is giving the water of life. Again, the water of life comes from God. At this point, I didn’t expect much to change in the age of the Holy Spirit.
Who Gives the water of Life in the Age of the Holy Spirit?
Revelation 21:6 – “He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.”
The Alpha and Omega, who is God, who again gives the water of life. In the whole Bible the answer is always the same. Only God is the source of the water of life.
Who is the Bride of Christ Who Gives the Water of Life?
Since God is the source of the water of life, who is the only one God’s people can receive it from? God’s people can only come to God. But in Revelation 22:17, the Bible says to come to the Spirit and the Bride.
Rev 22:17 – The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
Now it was clear to me. The only one the bride of Christ who gives the water of life could be is God. This means that there are two Gods in the Bible, not one. I had always been taught that there was one God, now I saw two. I had to find out…
